I am very excited to be able to take part in my first 11 Day Power Play! I have watched this amazing event the past few years and always wanted to play in it. This year I reached out to a close highschool friend and I was able to join his team.

I personally want to make a difference in the fight against cancer as cancer has impacted a few people very close family members and friends. In the past few years my family has lost two amazing men to cancer.  My grandfather in October of 2018, and my wifes Uncle John in December of 2016.  My grandfather was a man whom would do anything for his family,  he never missed a baseball or hockey game growing up. And he was the type of person who would give you the shirt off of his back.  My wifes Uncle John was always the center of attention,  always quick with a whitty one liner or hilarious story.. These were two men whom were the defintion of what it means to be family and I play to honor them.

Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY are all amazing organizations , and personally witnessed miracles made by each of them.

I would like to thank the KTCBuffaloBrewBus team for allowing me the opportunity to play with them, and thinks its an amazing cause!

ABOUT 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift

This summer, more than 2,500 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous shifts at Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. This important event supports The 11 Day Power Play, raising critically-needed funds for cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY. While it is physically challenging to play in a marathon hockey game, it's a walk in the park compared to what most endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make an impact in our community. In the past two years, The 11 Day Power Play has raised nearly $2.5 million supporting cancer causes in Western New York.

Donations are graciously accepted online or by check. Please write checks out to 'The 11 Day Power Play' and send to PO Box 4, Buffalo, NY 14223. If you are interested in a sponsorship, contact Sara Schumacher today.
