Cancer has effected my personal and professional life on a unique level.  I have lost many family members to different forms of cancer, and I have been inspired by survivors in my family as well.  Cancer has impacted me on a personal level so much that I’m 2015 I decided to make oncology the soul focus of my nursing career.  I have worked at both ECMC in the Jonah Center Oncology and Hematology Clinic and currently at Roswell Park on 5 North where we specialize in Lymphoma, Leukemia, Bone Marrow transplants and T-Cell Transplants.   Day in and day out constantly dealing with the sickest of the sick patients makes you want to do more for them and go that extra miles.   This is just one way that I can honor the memory of those I’ve lost, those I still cherish and those still fighting who I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of their lives.  Please help me make a difference, every little bit help those who are literally in the battle for their life.  For cancer doesn’t care. It doesn’t care about age. It doesn’t care about your family or friends. It doesn’t care about what it takes from us or the damage it leaves behind.  But I care.  Please consider making a donation today to help find better treatments, better care for patients so they don’t have to suffer and hopefully one day a cure.

Together, we can make a difference.

ABOUT 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift

This summer, more than 2,500 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2019 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous shifts at Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. This important event supports The 11 Day Power Play, raising critically-needed funds for cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish WNY. While it is physically challenging to play in a marathon hockey game, it's a walk in the park compared to what most endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make an impact in our community. In the past two years, The 11 Day Power Play has raised nearly $2.5 million supporting cancer causes in Western New York.

Donations are graciously accepted online or by check. Please write checks out to 'The 11 Day Power Play' and send to PO Box 4, Buffalo, NY 14223. If you are interested in a sponsorship, contact Sara Schumacher today.
