Hello Everyone,

My name is Nick Bruno. First off, thank you for taking the time to review my profile and your consideration in helping me reach my fundraising goal. My father John got the opportunity to participate in the previous 11 PowerPlay event and after experiencing all the good this event and the foundation generated, I had wished so badly I had tried to be more involved. Now is my chance!

Absolutely everyone has been impacted by cancer to some degree. (thats my last cliche I promise.) It could not be more true though. Life is all about experiences and those moments we never forget. I will always cherish my memory of being in the stands with my family cheering on my father as his 11 day battle of attrition was just a few seconds way from its completion. The final horn had sounded and the crowd of fans and volunteers, which had already been gradually cheering louder over the last few minutes, erupted in celebration to another whole level. Just looking around and seeing all the tears and hugging that was going on was priceless, it was the collective goal of the whole community finally reazlied. My most fond moment of that day will be walking down towards the glass to see my father in tears as he was able to see up close the signs my mother and sister had made for him in honor of his Mother, my grandmother. This type of elation was in full effect for every single person in that arena that day, and for all 11 days.

This summer, more than 1,700 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2018 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous, four-hour shifts at HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York. Each shift will feature two new teams. The purpose of this important event is to raise critically-needed funds for important local cancer causes, including: cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; supporting programs that improve quality of life for children, adults and families affected by cancer through Camp Good Days; and, granting wishes and amazing experiences to kids with life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, by Make-A-Wish Western New York. Although it may be physically challenging for our players to play four continuous hours of hockey, it will be a walk in the park compared to what some people have to endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make a difference, a big difference. You can help make a big difference by supporting our players' efforts in The 11 Day Power Play Community Shift.
