Extremely excited to share that I'll be joining team WGR to play in this year's 11-Day Power Play!

The 11-Day Power Play is a hockey game played for 11 days straight. Last year, 40 people in Buffalo played in the longest ever hockey game, raising money for cancer research. This year, things are a little different. Many teams are assigned a 4 hour time slot to play for the event across 11 days.

To play in this game, I'll need a little help. Our team goal is to raise $5000. To help the team, my personal goal was to raise $350. After hitting that goal, I've incresed my personal goal to $1,000. Anything you can donate for the cause can help. All money donated benefits Roswell Park, Camp Good Days, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation for cancer research.

While I personally have not had cancer, my life has been greatly affected by it. We lost my Aunt Nancy a few years back to this terrible disease. I'm dedicating my playing in this game in memory of her, as well as for my Aunt Tara Leone, currently battling breast cancer, my Uncle Gene Scherer who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and Jennifer Korte, my step-father's niece-in-law currently battling colon cancer.

If you can't donate money, I will also accept things like hugs, high fives and moral support. While playing four hours straight will be tough, it's nothing compared to what cancer patients go through on a daily basis.

This summer, more than 1,700 pairs of skates will hit the ice to play in the 2018 11 Day Power Play Community Shift to help in the fight against cancer! The 11-day game will be played in continuous, four-hour shifts at HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York. Each shift will feature two new teams. The purpose of this important event is to raise critically-needed funds for important local cancer causes, including: cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; supporting programs that improve quality of life for children, adults and families affected by cancer through Camp Good Days; and, granting wishes and amazing experiences to kids with life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, by Make-A-Wish Western New York. Although it may be physically challenging for our players to play four continuous hours of hockey, it will be a walk in the park compared to what some people have to endure in their battle against cancer. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone, and The 11 Day Power Play wants to make a difference, a big difference.
